Got to catch, up

So in the weekend it was time to get some activities done. So, Dan travelled to Dallas, which takes already roughly three hours just to get there, to attend/coach a game of Australian Football or simply 'Footy'. Therefore I took the opportunity to do some activities. At first Sjoerd and I went to the park to get some tickets for a very 'fun' performance (read: kind of obligatory), it was amazing how many people were queued to get a ticket. Well, there was no queue neither were there any people waiting...
We didn't just go to the park to get a ticket, we actually had a short walk to enjoy the weather while walking back to the parking lot.
The performance was in the evening, so we still had the entire afternoon to stroll around in Houston. This reminded me of buying a postcard, which my English teacher strongly, but kindly, insisted on. So we walked around in Galleria(a very large shopping mall) and eventually found one. We soon returned back to Dan's, but drove past a yard sale first, and bought, don't ask me why, some sort of storage for cd's for under a dollar. The two ladies selling all their, sorry to say, junk, were glad we took it. Once at the house, we knew that Dan had those paint spray cans in red white and blue. He used those for an art project a while ago(he painted the Texan flag on wood, it looks pretty cool actually). We got the cans and painted the Dutch flag on the sides of the piece of furniture we took with us. While the paint was drying, we watched a !pun incoming! hitlerious movie on Netflix: 'Er ist wieder da'. Whoever directed the movie did a !one more! b-jew-tiful job. The content of the movie can probably be !watch it! gassed uhh… guessed: Hitler. As if he returned to society, in 2014. The plot was quite an !got to stop! “Übergassung” (or was it Überraschung?) as I didn’t know what to expect at first, but I soon noticed that the movie has to be taken with giant grain of salt.
Anyway, we headed back to the park as that was the place where the performance took place. You're probably wondering: "What was it?", believe it or not, but it was ballet..... I was surprised by how many people actually showed up as the place was quite crowded. At least it enriched my 'cultural development'.
The performance took place in one of those open-air theatres, rather easily accessible by the way, but there were little to no available parking lots anywhere near it... But we got lucky, as a last resort we went to the garage of a museum nearby, as it was still open. When we got there, there was a woman who seemed kind of irritated. But she let us pass, for free, as the person who drove into garage before us was incredibly insolent to her. So we watched the performance, after which we went back Dan's to drop me off, while Sjoerd headed back to his hotel.
Well, I guess that's it for Saturday...
Sunday was mostly spent at the house, in afternoon at least. Dan was gone early as he had to attend some courses. I asked Sjoerd whether he'd like to come over, which ended up in going bowling together. We returned to the house early in the afternoon as Dan could come back any time by then with his girlfriend and his girlfriend's young girl. We had delicious dinner with the five of us, while we chitchatted about whatever we chitchatted about, it was a great time. But it was also the last day of the last weekend of this trip...
Time for work again. I finished the task, so now everyone can convert a matrix is such a way the software can use the data, so that's good. During the rest of the day I basically looked along with some colleagues and helped them if I could. By the way, I got some tickets for a baseball game in the evening, Sjoerd wanted to come along as he had no other plans yet. The stadium was large, thousands of people gathered to watch the game. It was quite a nice experience, probably once in a lifetime. As the game proceeded, I went to get some hotdogs (those typical American ones), however it was the worst timing possible...
We were on the terrace deck, so catching a ball would be very unlikely, but the unlikely happened, almost.
The ball flew right at the spot I WAS sitting. The person behind my spot stood up and reached far over Sjoerd's head while Sjoerd tried to catch the ball. Great... The large hands of the overly fanatic daddy caught it for his son of who's feet had been kicking against my chair for pretty much most of the game. But hey, at least that little kid is happy... I'm glad I watched the game, as it was a wonderful experience.
Better luck next time?
Phew, that should do. One more update coming in a couple of days!
